What data we process and why

Booking a cabin or pitch

When you book, we record your name, contact details, dates, type of pitch or cabin, vehicle and payment details. We use this to arrange your stay and for our accounts. The lawful basis is our contract with you and our legal bookkeeping obligations (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (c)). Bookings and payments are handled in our booking system, Hamnsystem.

Contact forms and enquiries

When you send us an enquiry, for example about a group meet or business rental, we receive your name, email, phone number and message. We only use this to reply and send you a quote (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe. You can do this at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. The lawful basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

My Account

Year-round and seasonal guests can create an account on My Account. We then store your name, email and the settings you choose for as long as the account is active (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

Reviews and surveys

If you write a review or answer a survey, we keep your answers and the name you give. We use them to improve. Reviews may be shown on our website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

Camera surveillance

Parts of the site are covered by camera surveillance to prevent theft and vandalism and to keep guests and staff safe. These areas are marked with signs. Recordings are kept for up to seven days and then deleted automatically. We only hand over recordings to the police if we suspect a criminal offence. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Essential cookies make the site work, and we always use them. We only use statistics cookies if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via «Cookie settings» at the bottom of the page.

Essential: security, signing in to My Account and remembering your cookie choice.
Statistics: Visitor Analytics and Wix show us how many people visit and which pages they use. We cannot see who you are.

Who we share data with

We never sell your data. We use the following providers, who process data on our behalf and on our instructions:

Wix.com: website, forms, My Account and newsletter
Hamnsystem: bookings and payment
Visitor Analytics: visitor statistics, only with your consent

We only disclose data to public authorities when the law requires it.

Transfers outside the EU/EEA

Some of our providers store data outside the EU/EEA. Wix has servers in countries including Israel and the USA. These transfers have a lawful basis: the EU adequacy decision (Israel), the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep your data

Bookings and accounts: as long as Norwegian bookkeeping law requires, normally five years.
Enquiries: up to 12 months after our last contact.
Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
My Account: until you delete the account or ask us to delete it.
Camera recordings: up to seven days.
Cookies: up to 12 months, or until you delete them in your browser.

Your rights

You have the right to access the data we hold about you, have errors corrected, have data deleted, restrict or object to processing, receive your data in a portable format and withdraw your consent at any time. Email us at post@odincamping.com. We reply within one month.

Complaints

If you believe we process your data in breach of the rules, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.no, phone +47 22 39 69 00), or to the data protection authority in your own country. We would appreciate it if you contact us first, so we can put things right.

Changes

We update this policy when we change how we process personal data. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
